The Close the Gap Farm cultivates a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, including maize, beans, matoke, sweet potatoes, cassava, avocados, papayas, jackfruit, and passion fruit. The grounds also feature a dedicated banana plantation and several mango trees. Alongside agriculture, the team also manages a thriving livestock operation with pigs, chickens, cows, and goats.
The farm’s produce is used to feed the schoolchildren and support families in need, while livestock, milk, and eggs are sold locally. During planting and harvest seasons, Close the Gap hires additional farm workers from the surrounding area, making the farm an important local employer.
Looking ahead, Close the Gap aims to create a diverse forest on the school and farm grounds. This initiative will not only support environmental conservation, but also promote hands-on, nature-based learning—and provide a natural space for the children to play and explore.
